Doha, Sep 19: Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha Qatar is a socio cultural association started in March 2008 with the prime aim of reaching out to the poorest of the poor back home. It has succeeded to a great extent in living up to its commitment. A number of school children are being helped, sick taken care of and orphans and destitute looked after through the generous contribution of the MCA over the last three years.
Every Year Mangalore Cultural Association has organized events to fulfill their cause. This year it has planned to stage “Wilfy Nite” the greatest musical entertainment in Konkani. This will be a tribute to “Konkan Kogul” Wilfy Rebimbus who passed away last year. Wilfy has composed over 3000 songs and has over 250 Musical Shows to his credit all over India, Middle East and Canada.
Before his death Wilfy Rebimbus staged his Last “Wilfy Nite” in the Gulf in Qatar under the Banner of MCA Qatar. And now after his death MCA stages his tribute show first in the Gulf. The Show will comprise of his selected golden hits and so also new compositions of his children Veena and Vishwas. MCA hopes to turn this event into a rich and fitting tribute to the great soul.
A 14 members troupe will be flown in from Mangalore including – Konkan Myna Meena Rebimbus, Vishwas Rebimbus, Ivan Sequeria, Babita Pinto, Charleen Rebimbus The popular Duo Music Directors who have been associated with Wilfy since long – Pappan & Joswin Pinto along with Peethambaran. Ace Comedian Adolphus Cutinha known as Dolla Mangalore and the whole show will be Compered by the Compere beyond Compare Leslie Rego. Dancers Scanzy Alfred, Chris Misquith, Renita Lobo and Felita Fonseca will dance for Wilfy’s foot tapping evergreen numbers.
Wilfy’s Daughter Veena will join the troupe along with few selected voices of Qatar from the MCA family.
The evening is sure to take the music lovers down the memory lane.. Promising entertainment for Wilfy’s fans, who have been eagerly awaiting to listen to his meaningful songs.
