Hyderabad, Sep 18 : Bellary mining baron, former Karnataka minister and BJP leader Janaradhana Reddy who is in police custody since September 5 is expected to undergo tougher interrogation from the CBI. It is said that, CBI now wants to conduct a lie detector brain-mapping and polygraph test on Gali Janaradhan Reddy and his kin Srinivas Reddy who is also in jail. Both are facing charges of Illegal mining.
Both have reportedly refused to go through the test. According to a Supreme Court order, no polygraph or brain-mapping test can be conducted without the permission from the accused.
The CBI which is working hard behind this case has collected several evidences from top politicians and business persons to tighten the noose around both the Reddys.
Ever since the Reddys' arrest CBI has raided several of their associates and collected more than 150 authentic records to keep the Reddys' in jail for many more days.
At the moment, the Court has remanded Reddys in CBI custody until September 19. If bail is granted, the CBI fears that Janardhana Reddy who is a powerful politician may tamper evidence.
Some sources say Janardhana Reddy has named some of the top BJP leaders including Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley, Dharmendra Pradhan and others who are reportedly beneficiaries of Janardhana Reddy. If this could be proved, BJP could face some tough time at the centre, especially as the party is up in arms against the UPA over the latter's corruption scams.
On the contrary, other sources say that Janaradhan Reddy has not been cooperating with the CBI investigation. The interrogation is going on at a CBI guest house, where both the Reddys have been claiming, "We are not involved with illegal mining." This has reportedly upset the CBI team which feels, if they have not done anything wrong, 'why are they not ready to undergo lie detector test?'
No doubt, strong evidences against the Reddys can put them behind bars for a long time. All eyes are on the CBI enquiry now.
