Mumbai, Jan 23: The concluding programme of annual Koti Chennaya sports meet was held by Billawar Association here at Mumbai university sports ground, Marine Lines west on January 21. Pravin Bhoja Shetty, president of Bunts Sangha Mumbai spoke as chief guest of the occasion.
Harish G Ameen, president of Billawar Association chaired the programme. Guests of honor, Asiatic Crane services managing director Ganesh Poojary, Vaishnavi Management Private Limited director Mohan Poojary, social worker Makarand Narvekar, Bharath bank former directors Harish Mulki and Purushotham Kotian presented prizes to winning participants and congratulated them.
Ganesh Poojary said that sports are as important as education in people's lives. “May the achievements of Billawas such as this continue uninterrupted and their reputation spread,” he said.
Harish Ameen, in his presidential address, said that this tournament is for the unity of Billawas and is an opportunity to showcase their sports temperament. “Let all of us the Tulu Kannadigas in Mumbai unite and unfurl the banner of our unity,” he said.
The guests felicitated sportspersons Dileep Ameen and Atmika Poojary. The president honored Dr Shrathi Poojary for her medical service, sevadal members, sports convener Ravi S Sanil, Sahanistar media’s Harish Poojary and other donors.
Association vice president Shanker D Poojary, Jayanti V Ullal, Dharmapal G Anchan, K Suresh Kumar, honorary chief treasurer Rajesh J Bangera, ladies wing president Shakuntala K Kotian, youth wing secretary Navin L Bangera, association local committee heads Karunaker G Ameen, Ganesh V Suvarna, Janardhan R Poojary, Chandrahas S Palan, Mohan K Salian, Harish T Poojary, Ratnaker G Poojary, Vishwanath K Poojary, Mohan B Ameen, Krishna K Poojary, Harish Shanti, Sadashiva G Suvarna and other local committee office bearers were on the dais.
Youth wing president Nilesh Poojary Palimar welcomed. In the day long competitions, Vasai local office was declared champion. Borivili local office and Ghatkoper local office won with second and third positions. Association honorary chief secretary Harish G Salian introduced the guests, compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks The programme concluded with the singing of national anthem.
