Bantwal, Sep 17: The Kalladka-Kanhangad stretch of state highway up to Vittal, near here lies in pathetic condition, posing nightmares to the motorists plying on this route.
It is a challenge to drivers to manoeuvre their vehicles which is broad enough for one way traffic. The twelve-kilometre stretch of this road has withered due to incessant rains. Large potholes are everywhere, and the asphalt has fully withered at some places.
Hundreds of people who commute on this road every day are forced to bear the discomfort resulting out of the potholes, mud and unevenness dotting the stretch. Vehicles carrying students need to be extra careful, as even a small mistake can pose grave danger. Motorcylists are the worst affected, apart from pedestrians.
It is disheartening that peoples' representatives are not bothered about the poor state of this vital linking road. The local village councils have also not taken any action.
