Karkala, Sep 16: The body of Vasant (48), assistant sub-inspector of Hebri police station, who had gone missing since Monday September 12 evening, was found from a water body. Vasant, who was working at Hebri police station since the last seven months, is survived by wife and two sons.
The water body that contains slushy water is located on Hebri-Kuchchoor Road. The policeman’s body was found to have been buried in the slush. The spot is located by the side of the road leading to the police quarters from the station. As movement of people and vehicles here is sparse, no one had noticed the body. It is believed that Vasant slipped while walking towards his home after duty hours, and could not lift himself out of the slush.
A report in this connection was filed by Hebri station house officer, Santosh Shetty. Karkala circle inspector, Vijay Prasad, deputy superintendent of police (SP), Santosh Kumar, additional SP, Venkateshappa, district SP, Dr Ravi Kumar Y S etc visited the spot. They also met the family members and consoled the grieving relatives of Vasant.
