Udupi: Artist Peter Lewis Underlines Need for Platform to Showcase Art

Udupi, Sep 16: “A platform is essential to unveil the talent in art.  Art can be fostered by encouraging students to nurture their talent,” said renowned artist Peter Lewis.
 
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Crossroads–2011’, an arts competition held at Crossland College, Brahmavar, on Tuesday September 13.  It was organized under the aegis of Mangalore University directorate of students’ welfare and Crossland College, Brahmavar. 


 

Crossland College principal Professor Samuel K Samuel presided over the programme.
 
Mangalore University student’s welfare officer Dr A M A Khade and programme organizer Jyoti were the chief guests on the occasion.
 
Canara College, Mangalore, bagged the championship in the arts competition that was attended by over 100 students from different colleges affiliated to Mangalore University. 
 
Alvas College, Moodbidri, bagged the second prize.
 
Kokkarne entrepreneur Balakrishna Hegde distributed prizes during the
valedictory function held on Tuesday evening.
 
Shawn Babu welcomed the gathering while Jyoti proposed the vote of thanks.  Liyanka compered the programme.
