Mangalore, Sep 10: ‘Forum of Christians United Services (FOCUS)’, a forum of Christians working in various state government departments of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District was inaugurated on Saturday September 10 at St Antony's Asylum Hall, Jeppu, here.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu blessed the occasion and explained the importance of the government services and said that Christian employees need to interact with each other and also to follow the path of the Jesus Christ in serving the needy and the poor of the community.
The chief guest of the occasion Jayashanth Kumar M B Depot manager KSRTC stressed on the need for Christians to serve the people and to spread peace, harmony and equality among the people in the society. He added that it is the need of every Christians to rise to the occasion and this forum has to be a dais to change the attitude and to bring unity among Christians and to respond to the needs of the community.
The president JR Lobo explained the responsibilities of each and every government employee and to serve the people as a service to the community without any expectations. He also said that it is the responsibility of each and every member of the Forum to take active part and to fulfill the objectives of the Forum. The forum needs to encourage and guide the youth to join government services and it is also the responsibility of the government employees to enlighten the public regarding the various government facilities.
President of the forum Anil Stanly Vas, secretary Sunil Monteiro and convener Maurice D’Souza were present on the dais.
The president welcomed the gathering and Maurice D’Souza gave a brief introduction of the association and explained the aims and objectives of the forum.
The function was concluded with the cote of thanks delivered by Sunil Monteiro.
Employees of about 14 state government departments participated in the programme.
