Mangalore: Deeksha Leaps to Gold at Junior Athletics Meet in Bhopal

Mangalore, Sep 10: Deeksha, a student of city's Sacred Hearts High School, Kulshekar has done the city proud by winning gold medal at the 23rd Inter-zone Junior Athletic Championships held at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from September 4-7.
14-year-old Deeksha is the daughter of Thimmappa and Jayanthi from Neermarga. She is ably coached by Balakrishna. She made a leap of 5.16 mts to claim the gold at Bhopal.
Long jump being her forte, she has created other memorable records in this field of athletics. She has won at several state and national athletic meets, and is definitely a rising star of the future
Apart from her win at Bhopal, she has earlier won the gold at the 23rd State Junior and Senior Athletic Championships Meet -2011 in Bangalore, with a leap of 5.44 mts, and a silver in high jump at the same event (1.41 mts).
In Hyderabad at the Senior and Junior South Zone Athletic Championship Meet this year, she won another gold in long jump, and repeated the golden performance at the 56th National Inter Zone Athletic Championship Meet in Bhopal.
