Luxembourg, Dec 20: Kannada Koota Luxembourg (KKL), which is active in spreading Kannada vibes and developing Kannada culture in Luxembourg, has successfully conducted ‘Kannadotsava 2023’. All the Kannadigas living in Luxembourg participated in this programme held at the Beggen Cultural Center in Luxembourg and hoisted the Kannada Kirti Patake. Through this, all the Kannadigas gathered together and celebrated the Kannada festival with great enthusiasm.
Luxembourg, which is not as big as Bengaluru city district, has a population of around 6 lac. Although small, it is rich in diverse cultures. In this multicultural region, Indians and especially Kannadigas are succeeding in spreading their language and culture in a remarkable way. With more than 100 Kannadigas families living here, Kannada Koota Luxembourg, which started in late 2022, has played an important role in uniting Kannadigas through various cultural events, workshops and festivals.
The KKL organized the second edition of Karnataka Rajyotsava in which more than 200 members participated. It was notable that it witnessed the large participation of Indians and some Europeans as well. The programme was started by lighting the lamp with the 'Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa' song and followed by singing Naada Geeta, reflecting the rich heritage and cultural tradition of Kannada. Vanajakshi Jagadish and Dr Puneeth Jubba Honnaiah who have been contributing to the Kannada community were honoured in the programme. The programme was hosted by Sharanya and Pramod Eshwar.
Classical music, singing of movie songs, dance and orchestra programs were organized on the occasion. Another notable aspect is that half of these programs were conducted by children themselves. Through this platform, the children reflected the Kannada language and its culture. The main attraction of the event was the Kannadiga Achal Murthy and Luxembourg-based band ‘Ahmed Radwan & Les Hirondelles’ artistes who showcased their art and caught everyone's attention. In addition, the display of various dishes through stalls setup here gave delight to the food lovers.
KKL President Bhavani Shankar appreciated the success of the programme. "This programme marked the beginning of strengthening of ties between Kannadigas of Luxembourg and Karnataka. This event not only unveiled the talents among us, but also demonstrates unity and love which are helpful in increasing the bonding. This program has been successful in showing our rich culture to the outside world," he said.
