Kundapur, Dec 12: The Lokayukta police made an arrest on Tuesday, December 12, apprehending the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Belur in connection with a bribery case related to the Basava housing project.
The arrested individual is PDO Jayant.
The Basava housing scheme involved the disbursement of a total of Rs 1.20 lakh in four installments to beneficiaries for the construction of houses. The accused PDO allegedly insisted on spending Rs 10,000, half of the released funds, and demanded the petitioner return that amount as a bribe.
Following the complaint about the accused demanding a bribe, the Lokayukta police initiated an operation. The arrest took place while the accused was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant at Thekkatte Junction, leading to the registration of a case against the PDO.
