Mangalore: Grand Festivities Mark Onam at Karavali Institute of Technology

Mangalore, Sep 6: Various events like Kerala Utsavam, Bhangda, Garba, Kolkali, Oppana, fashion show, Kerala dance, Vattapat, Pulikali and Nadan kala marked grand celebrations of Onam at the campus of Karavali Institute of Technology (KIT), Neermarga here on Tuesday September 6.
A splendid procession, flanked by traditionally costumed performers of Mohiniyattam, Tiruvadira, Kathakali and others, was taken out to to flag off the celebrations, and after its culmination a lamp was lit by chairman of the College S Ganesh Rao.
Addressing the students, he said that it gives the institution immense pleasure in hosting Onam celebrations as more than 50 percent of the students studying in the institution were Keralites. Also, this kind of celebration brings fosters the values of unity for achieving national integrity, he added.
Onam Sadhya and Kerala dishes were served to as many as 3,000 people including students.
Vinod Kumar of KIT welcomed. Lavender D'Silva delivered the vote of thanks. Sumangala Soman compered. Directors Latha G Rao, Venkat Rao and all the principals of Karavali Group of Colleges were present on the dais.
