Mumbai, Sep 6: The Mumbai Police have caught hold of another Chhota Rajan aide in connection with the murder of Mid-Day crime journalist J Dey that took place in June this year.
Paulson Joseph who was allegedly involved in the crime was arrested from Tilak Nagar here on Monday September 5.
Earlier in July, police had arrested Vinod Chembur, also a key aide of Chhota Rajan for Dey's murder.
Officials at the Crime Branch have claimed that Joseph had provided the killers logistical support and helped them by arranging SIM cards and the like.
Joint Commissioner of Crime Police, Himanshu Roy said, "We have arrested Paulson Joseph in connection with J Dey’s murder. He had provided the killers with global roaming SIM cards, which cannot be tracked. They used these cards to communicate with Rajan. He helped them with other logistics as well."
A few SIM cards have been recovered from the accused. The same will be produced before the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Tuesday for securing his custody. Roy added that the SIM cards with international roaming facility were used to avoid the use of local cellular network.
However, during interrogation, Paulson allegedly told the police that he had procured the SIM cards from one of his acquaintances.
Ten persons, including Paulson and cricket bookie Vinod Ashrani alias Vinod Chembur have been arrested in connection with the murder so far.
