Bellary/Hyderabad, Sep 6: In just 24 hours, everything has changed in the life of Gali Janardhana Reddy. The mining baron who lived in a luxurious 'palace' is now like a bird in a cage in Hyderbad jail. No posh life, no luxury, no special facilities, he is just another prisoner no 697 of Chanchala Guda jail in Hyderabad. His brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy is one number behind him, as Prisoner no 696.
He was offered ordinary food like other jail inmates, a plate of rice and sambar and some vegetables, but both the Reddys did not eat jail food, instead they had biscuits which they had brought from home!
On Tuesday September 6 morning, Janardhana Reddy asked for an English newspaper, but the jailer denied him that luxury too!
The CBI arrested him from his Bellary residence on Monday September 5 morning in connection with Obulapuram Mining Company's illegal mining acitivies in Bellary and brought him to Hyderabad. In addition, 30kg of gold, Rs 3 crore in cash, 11 cars and a helicopter, and one luxurious bus which was used during the election time were siezed by the CBI sleuths.
Reddy Planned to Build a Group of MPs?
A reliable source has now disclosed that Janardhana Reddy had skecthed a masterplan with the help of Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Rajshekar Reddy to build a group of at least 25 to 30 MPs for the next parliamentary election so that they could have enough hold in the central government. The masterplan was already initiated with Sriramulu submitting his resignation from the Assembly. An alternate political party under the leadership of Sriramulu in Karnataka was the plan. The Jaganmohan Reddy - Janardhana Reddy duo was reportedly eying at least 20 MP seats from Andhra and 10 from Karnataka with their money power, as this could play a significant role in the national politics in the current era of 'coalition' at the centre.
When BJP started to sideline the Reddy group in Karnataka, reportedly, the Reddys felt isolated and feared losing their grip on power. To remain in power at the higher level, Janardhana Reddy is said to have masterminded the longterm project of flaoting a new political party.
But it is said that the Congress intelligence succeeded in gathering this information, and consequently brought down Reddys from political power.
It is widely expected that Jagan Mohan Reddy could be the next to land in jail.
