Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 29 (IANS): Even though villagers at Oyoor in Kollam district are rejoicing safe return of the kidnapped six-year-old girl, the Kerala Police continue to struggle to reach a breakthrough in the case.

A day after she was abducted from near her house, the kidnappers -- which included a woman -- left the child at a public ground on Tuesday.

As the gang never used a mobile phone, tracking them has become tough for police.

Also, the AI cameras installed in and around the Kollam district also have failed to track down either the car or the gang, even when they are believed to have moved freely, just as the way a woman dropped the kidnapped girl to the public ground, located about 25 kms from where she was kidnapped on Monday evening.

On Tuesday, around 1.45 p.m, a woman arrived at the ground in an auto-rickshaw, along with the girl, where she made the child sit and left.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Police has released a picture of a man and a lady created as part of their probe.

After seeing some resemblance with the picture, a man arrived at the Kundara Police station. "After seeing a picture similar to me, I reported it to the police and they after taking my mobile phone for further examination left me. I told them that I have nothing to do with the girl or the incident," he said.

The girl continues to be under medical observation at a state-run hospital in Kollam as the doctors are waiting for results to find out if she was drugged after being kidnapped.

She told the police that she was taken to a big house and was given food and then a laptop to play games, following which she slept.

Though the police showed her pictures of 30 women, she is yet to zero down on any of them who was part of the gang.

The police continue to engage in tracking down the gang, as their prestige is at stake.
