Udupi, Nov 19: Taunting Zameer Ahmed, BJP leader C T Ravi said, “We are not saluting Mullah of Jamia Masjid. We are giving respect to constitutional position.”
During Telangana election campaigning minister Zameer had said, “Congress party has given speaker of assembly position to a Muslim for the first time in the history of Karnataka. Now even BJP MLAs have to say Namaskara Speaker Saab.” This statement created controversy.
Responding to Zameer’s statement, C T Ravi said, “Speaker position is not the position of Maulwi of Mosque. BJP MLAs are not saying Ji or Huzoor to Maulwi. The respect the position of speaker gets is no the kind of respect what a Mullah of mosque gets. Do not do the work of downgrading the respect of that position. We are not saluting Mullah. If people like you, who do not understand the constitution, become minister these kind of meanings are taken out for the position of speaker. Do not spoil the status of Khader.”
Replying to the query on internal friction in BJP over leader of opposition post, Ravi said, “I have not asked any position after 1994. I had told beforehand that I was not in the race of leader of opposition. I will work as a common worker to see that our party turns out victorious.”
On the issue of family politics of Yediyurappa, C T Ravi said, “This is the decision of high command. I do not want to discuss on this matter at this point in time.”
“State government has removed NEP and introduced SEP. Students and parents are doing signature campaign demanding NEP. We are with them. NEP is formed by team of experts after taking opinion from lacs of people of states and UTs of the country. It is okay to find flaws in NEP. But introducing SEP is like dividing the country. What is the Congress objecting to? Is it for giving primary education in mother tongue? By learning Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and other languages along with Kannada the bonding between languages increases. Today’s education is creating more unemployment. NEP helps in forming life and giving skill training. The state government is depriving poor children from getting NEP education,” said C T Ravi.
Ravi further said, “ A team of experts led by Kasturi Rangan had formed the NEP after holding seminars at various parts of the country. Rs 50,000 crore is earmarked for research on NEP. If we changeover to SEP, we will lose this grant. This means that the Congress wants to take development of Karnataka in reverse gear. If there is no recognition for NAC, UGC and NCERT, our education will not have recognition outside Karnataka. In the team that is formed to implement SEP by the state government only those who are against BJP are there. More than 50% are politicians. So remove NEP from the schools run by Congress ministers. But do not deprive poor children studying in government schools of NEP. All have to raise their voice against this policy of Congress.”
