Chennai, Nov 8: Son of a factory worker, Jayaganesh was born in a remote village of Vinvamangalam in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district. With poor financial background, Jayaganesh faced many hardships to achieve his dream of becoming an IAS officer.
After the initial schooling at the village school, Jayaganesh did his polytechnic studies and went on to complete mechanical engineering. However, he could not land into a job even after holding diploma and engineering degree. In order to earn a living, he worked as a billing clerk in a film theatre and also worked as bearer that gave him Rs 2500 every month. However, his dream of becoming an IAS officer overtook him and he left the job after some time.
Jayaganesh had to undergo financial deficit when he opted to prepare for the IAS examinations. He took up job as a waiter in a hotel to supplement his income. He had to make preparations and read late into the night after his work as a waiter at the hotel. His preparation was not up to the mark and Jayaganesh did not taste success in six attempts at the UPSC.
After his six attempts at clearing the examination failed, Jayaganesh was in a dilemma whether to go for the seventh attempt as he got a lucrative job with the Intelligence Bureau. However, his inclination towards the IAS was more and he decided to give one more shot. He was quite elated when he secured the 156th rank in his seventh attempt and became an IAS officer.
