Udupi, Nov 6: MLA Yashpal Suvarna met state labour minister Santhosh Lad and held discussion about labourers of unorganized sectors like artisans of gold and silver, carpenters, blacksmiths, tailor, auto-rickshaw drivers and fisheries industries labourers.
Yashpal Suvarna said that due to the corporate gold dealing companies getting the ornaments done by outstation goldsmiths, locals are not getting employment. Due to this the unorganized labourers are deprived of the facilities given by the government.
Suvarna appealed to the minister to take steps to ensure health insurance, student scholarship, and loan at low interest rates, ESI facility, skill training programmes and pension schemes to the labourers of the unorganized sector.
Yashpal also requested the minister to give him opportunity to bring the delegation of gold, silver artisans, Vishwakarma community, tailor association, auto-rickshaw drivers’ association and fisheries industry labourers soon and hold discussion in their presence.
