Udupi: Leopard falls into cage placed in Bandimath by forest dept

Udupi, Nov 5: A leopard that came in search of food in a private land near the bus stand of Barkur's Bandimath in Brahmavar taluk fell into a cage kept by forest officials.

Local resident Yogesh Pujari Bandimath said that it was a female leopard that fell into the cage. It comes under the jurisdiction of Mandarthi Forest Department.

 

It is learnt that the leopard will be transferred to a suitable location after the forest officials visit the place.

    It has suffered some bruises on face and nose which needs to be healed before releasing it into forest. Good to know the forest officials haven't bungled the capture operation of the leopard like in Bangalore.

    Leopards stray into city when they dont get enough food. Hence we must make efforts to provide good amount of food for tigers in forest area. In some African nations forest officials provide food for animals in forest We must also follow the same principles here.
