Udupi, Oct 31: In a significant development, the Kota police brought Chaitra Kundapura, prime accused in a multi-crore scam involving the allocation of BJP assembly election tickets, to town for questioning in a fraud case. This case revolves around a fraud amounting to Rs 5 lac, as per a complaint filed by fish seller Sudheena Poojary at the Kota Police Station. She is accused of extracting money from him after promising him to establish a textile shop on his behalf
Chaitra Kundapura was presented before Judge Shyam Prakash at the Additional Civil Judge and First Class Judicial Magistrate Court Circuit Bench in Brahmavar. The Brahmavar Circle Inspector took her into police custody from the Parappana Agrahara jail, where she had been detained, and conducted a thorough interrogation.
Police authorities requested a two-day custody for Chaitra Kundapura. The inquiry is being led by the Brahmavar Circle Inspector. However, the police investigation was completed within a day.
Remarkably, Chaitra Kundapura appeared quite composed in front of the media cameras and waving at them, while showing a cheerful disposition despite the gravity of the situation.
Subsequently, she was transferred to Mangaluru jail, with plans to send her to Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara jail on Wednesday, November 1. This multi-crore scam has sent shockwaves through the political landscape and legal system, as investigations continue to unfold.
