Anna's Campaign Sways Citizens, Massive Rallies in Moodbidri, Udupi

Moodbidri, Aug 26: Suppoprt for social activist Anna Hazare, who has been on a fast for the last 11 days demanding a stronger Lokpal Bill, is gathering thick and fast.
On Friday August 26 a massive rally led by Nagarika Samiti was held in support of Hazare from Thousand Pillar Basadi here to bus stand.
Thousands of students, public transport drivers and the general public participated in the rally. Shopkeepers drew their shutters down to show their support.
Addressing the protesters, Adarsh Gokhale said that the nation has a great future as the youth have expressed solidarity with Anna Hazare against the rampant corruption in the country.
A memorandum addressed to President Pratibha Patil was presented to tahsildar.
Nagarika Samiti office-bearers Divakar Shetty, Vishwas, Rajaram, Yatiraj and others were present.
Students of all educational institutions except Alva's College participated in the protest.

Udupi, Aug 26: Protest rallies were held in Barkur near here on Friday August 26 in support of Anna Hazare.
Students of B D Shetty College of Business Management, Brahmavar also staged a protest rally and presented a memorandum to Brahmavar special tahsildar Guruprasad to forward it to the union government.
Udupi: Massive Torchlight Rally ‘Triveni Sangam’ Supports Anna Hazare

Udupi, Aug 26: ‘Triveni Sangam’, a massive torchlight rally, was held in Shirva, near here, on Friday August 26 evening, in support of Anna Hazare’s struggle.
The rally was held simultaneously from MSRS College cross, Shirva society, and Kutyar gram panchayat office in three groups and concluded at Shirva bus stand. It was held under the leadership of social activist Anantaraya Shenoy.
Addressing the protesters, Kutyar Prasad Shetty stressed the need to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in Parliament.
Over a thousand people participated in the protest. Various social welfare and voluntary organizations supported the rally.
