Mangaluru, Oct 30: Security is beefed up throughout Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in the wake of serial bomb blast that took place in neighbouring state of Kerala.
Police have intensified vehicle checking on border areas. Senior police officers visited the border check posts and monitored the situation. Monitoring is increased under the limits of Mangaluru commissionerate including city centre areas. Police presence is seen in airport, seaport, religious places and railway station.
At Ullal, vehicles arriving from Kerala and going to Kerala were checked by police. Check points are set up at Talapady, Tacchani and Devipura border areas that fall under the limits of Ullal police station. Vehicles are also checked at Mudungarukatte, Narya, Nandarapadpu, Taudugoli Cross and Nettilapadavu that fall under Konaje police station limits.
Police protection is provided for Permannur, Thokkottu divine centre, Chembugudde prayer center. Babbukatte, Paneeru and Ranipura churches under Ullal police station limits. Churches at Mudipu, Pajeer, Eliyarpadavu and Mudipu hill that fall under the limits of Konaje police station are also monitored by extra police force. Police patrolling is done at mosques, temples, Someshwara beach where there are more crowds of people.
