Puttur, Oct 26: A tragic incident occurred in Padaladi, Ariadka village in Puttur taluk, where the roof of a sit-out house under construction collapsed, resulting in the death of a laborer and serious injuries to a contractor.

The deceased, Shekhar Kulal (45), hailed from Kaudichchar, Ariadka village.

Shekhar Kulal was engaged in centering work at Kamala's house in Padaladi, Ariadka village. While performing centering work on the roof of the sit-out section of the house, the roof suddenly gave way, seriously injuring both Shekhar Kulal and the contractor, Sanjiva Mogera, who was working alongside him. Tragically, while being rushed to the hospital, Shekhar Kulal succumbed to his injuries en route, while Sanjeeva Mogera is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru.

A case has been registered at the Puttur Rural Police Station based on a complaint filed by Dinesh Kulal, the brother of the deceased Shekhar Kulal. The complaint alleges negligence on the part of contractor Sanjeeva Mogera and the homeowner, Kamala, who hired Shekhar Kulal despite being aware that working in a location with improper curing posed a life-threatening risk.

Shekhar Kulal is survived by his wife, Kusumavati, son, Dhanvit, and brothers and sisters.
