Bengaluru, Oct 26: Hurling a direct challenge to State JD(S) Chief H D Kumaraswamy to come for a public debate on the performances, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has asked the former chief minister to speak about his contribution instead of firing in the air.
Speaking to media persons near his residence, Shivakumar dared Kumaraswamy for a public debate on mutual contributions.
“I am ready for a debate if it is arranged. What is the point of firing in the air or passing comments on social media,’’ he said.
Shivakumar said: “Let the people know who has done what and also on the contribution. I am ready for a public debate on any day after the next three days. Let him fix the time and date.’’
Commenting on BJP’s criticism over the renovation of his office in Vidhana Soudha, the Deputy Chief Minister said: “BJP is clueless and no common sense. As Deputy Chief Minister, I meet several important dignitaries. When the Prime Minister of Netherlands visited Vidhana Soudha, I had to meet him in Industries Minister M B Patil’s chamber as my office is inconvenient. This is the minimum courtesy to be shown to visiting dignitaries and VVIPs. BJP must understand this.’’
Shivakumar said there is need for a proper meeting place to receive visiting dignitaries. “It is our culture and tradition. We need to project Bengaluru and our State as well as the country better. BJP leaders must have at least minimum common sense. It is not renovation of the entire Vidhana Soudha,’’ he added.
