Mangaluru, Oct 14: In connection with a case of a woman being verbally abused on a bus, the police have arrested the bus driver and conductor.
The arrested individuals are Bharat Salian and Shivakumar, accused in the case. The complainant, Mufeeda Rehman, a lawyer residing in Jalalabagh, Deralakatte, boarded a bus with Route No 19, named Ashel. When the driver began moving the bus before Mufeeda could board properly, the conductor, who was standing on the footboard, grabbed her hand and helped her onto the bus. Subsequently, the conductor allegedly subjected the woman to verbal abuse until she disembarked from the bus. A complaint was filed against both the driver and conductor for psychological harassment.
On Friday, the accused were arrested and presented before the Sixth JMFC court.
They have been remanded to judicial custody. Assistant Public Prosecutor Janardhana B represented the prosecution.
