Mangaluru, Oct 11: Sleuths of the Mangaluru Customs seized gold from a passenger that was being smuggled here at then international airport.
The Customs officials seized 1,053 grams of gold valued at Rs 61.06 lac from the passenger who was traveling from Abu Dhabi on October 9.
The seized gold had been converted into a paste and squeezed into tablets and was concealed in the rectum while being smuggled into the country, the customs officials said.
There have been repeated instances of smuggled gold being caught at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) in the last ten days.
