Kadaba, Oct 9: A linesman by profession has done wonders by growing Miyawaki style forest.
Durga Singh works as linesman at Mescom Golithottu of the taluk. His duty is mostly on the edge of the forest. He cuts trees and branches that pose a danger to the electricity line. Though he cuts trees and branches he also has a concern that we need forests. So he is growing artificial forest.
Durga is following the technology of Japan scientist Miyawaki who allows to grow thick forest in a small land area. He has begun the campaign from his house itself. He has planted more than 400 plants on just a 1,000 square feet area near his house.
The plants have already grown to six feet height within a year. In two years they will form thick forest. Now this technology has reached schools and colleges as well.
Durga Singh has already created Miyawaki artificial forests in Golithottu and Alanthaya village schools. He has also done the same on private individual properties. The efforts of Durga Singh in conserving nature is appreciated by one and all.
