Mangaluru, Oct 4: St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, celebrated the achievements of more than 103 students in sports and academics by awarding them scholarships worth Rs 9.5 lacs.
On Wednesday, October 4, a ceremony was held to recognise and reward the students with Vidwath Spoorthi (Merit Scholarships 2023-24) and Kreeda Spoorthi (Sports Scholarships 2023-24).
Addressing the students, Zilla Panchayath CEO Dr Anand K emphasised the importance of excelling in one's chosen area of interest and the need for hard work. He highlighted that knowledge, attitude, and skills are essential for success, and students should be prepared to face both successes and failures, as neither is final.
Former principal of St Philomena College, Puttur, Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, encouraged students to tap into their potential and utilise their capabilities with willpower. He stressed the importance of having dreams and a winning attitude, along with administrative and organisational skills. He favoured achievers over toppers, as they contribute to the nation's progress.
Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin J Pinto, lauded the scholarship recipients as role models and inspirations for others.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by registrar Dr Allwyn D'Sa followed by a vote of thanks proposed by director of physical education Arun M D' Souza. The event was compered by Rohan Machado.
Finance officer Fr Vincent Pinto also attended the event to celebrate the students' achievements.
