Udupi, Sep 25: “The officials should listen to people's grievances and solve them however great the officials may be. It is the ambition of our chief minister that files should not be tossed over from one table to another table,” said district in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.
The minister for district administration, zilla panchayat, women and children’s development, the specially abled and the empowerment of senior citizens was speaking after inaugurating the Janata Darshan programme at Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium of the district administration on Monday.
She said that the Congress government enjoys unprecedented blessings from the people across the state. “We intend that officials should go to the houses and solve the people's problems and people should not come to officials. Officers should ensure that people do not lose faith in the government. The government earns a bad name when they make people run from pillar to post and when officials toss their files from one table to the other. I will definitely attend Janata Darshan twice a month as district in-charge minister. I will also inspect if the current issues are solved during the next Janata Darshan. Janata Darshans will be held at the taluk-level also in the future,” she said.
Deputy commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari, additional deputy commissioner Mamata Devi, Zlla Panchayat chief executive Prasanna, district SP Arun Kumar and other officials were present.
The district in-charge minister heard grievances of people in the presence of officials and asked the officials to solve them. Nearly 86 petitions were received from various parts of the district.
