Over 100 Anna Hazare Supporters Held in Goa

Panaji, Aug 16 (IANS): Over 100 Anna Hazare supporters courted arrest here Tuesday, protesting against the Gandhian activist's detention in New Delhi earlier in the day.

Those arrested included the local intelligentsia, civil society activists and other members of the Anna Hazare-inspired India Against Corruption campaign.

"We were protesting peacefully at the Azad Maidan (in Panaji) when the police converged. We insisted on our arrest because our leader has been detained," said Satish Sonak, one of the India Against Corruption campaigners.

Sonak said more and more supporters of Hazare would court arrest as hours pass by, until Hazare is released.
