Kundapur: ‘Adolescent Health Awareness’ event at IMJ Institute of Science & Commerce

Kundapur Aug 31: ‘Adolescent Health Awareness’ programme was organized as a part of ‘Deeksharamba’ , the orientation programme for first year students at IMJ Institute of Science & Commerce Moodlakatte.The programme was conducted in collaboration with JCI Kundapur division.

Resource person Dr Vanishree Aithal, ayurvedic physician, Saligrama, said, “Why adolescence stage is important in one’s lifetime? Depression and anxiety are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is among the leading causes of death in people aged 15-19 years. Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated. A change in behaviour is a natural process, but this should not go neglected and share our feelings freely with our parents. Chances of developing bad habits are high during adolescence. We should have the will power to control it.” She gave comprehensive information about the changes during adolescence.

Prof Pavana delivered the welcome speech, Prof Shabeena introduced the guest, Prof Swarna delivered the vote of thanks and Prof Sumana conducted the programme.

Dr Sony D'Costa, president, JCI Kundapur division, principal Dr Pratibha M Patel, vice principal Prof Jaysheel Kumar and all the lecturers were present.
