Bantwal, Aug 27: A house was burgled in Ira village of Ullal taluk and household valuables including cash worth lac of rupees was stolen in a house-breaking incident.
Burglars broke into Abdul Hameed's house through the backdoor after breaking the lock and stole four gold necklaces valued at Rs 1.12 lac and Rs 11,000 in cash totalling Rs 1.23 lac.
Abdul Hameed, a resident of Ira village had on Saturday August 26, after 9.30 pm locked his home and left for his mother-in-law's place. When he returned on Sunday morning he found the backdoor of his home open. When he walked into the house suspecting a burglary he found valuables including cash in the almirah of his bedroom missing.
Bantwal crime branch SI I Murthy visited Hameed's home. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service. Fingerprint experts also conducted a spot inspection.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal rural station.
