Mangaluru, Aug 23: A house in which Srilatha Poojary lived in Mother Teresa Layout near Pakshikere has been burgled.
Household articles and cash worth lakhs of rupees were burgled.
Srilatha who lives in the home with three others including elders and two children had been to her parents’ home on B C Road on Saturday on the occasion of Naga Panchami.
When the family members returned on Tuesday they found the house burgled.
The burglars had broken into the home through the backdoor kitchen by cutting the iron grills and they then broke the backdoor as well. The thieves then ransacked two rooms of the house and they even broke open a locked cupboard before making away with articles and cash valued at around Rs 5 lac.
Those living in this home had been to celebrate Naga Panchami on Saturday. On Sunday in the afternoon, Srilatha's father-in-law Jayasheela Poojary visited their home and then left for their old home that existed in Mogepaadi.
When Srilatha returned home on Tuesday, she found it burgled.
Gram panchayat chairman Maiyyaddi and member Suresh Panja along with Mulki police visited Srilatha's home. Sniffer dog was also pressed into service as it entered the home through the backdoor. Fingerprint experts also examined the clues left behind by the burglars. Police are investigating.
Srilatha's husband Bharath Raj Poojary had left the town a few days back as he had found employment overseas. The family members were visibly disturbed by the burglary.
