Kasargod, Aug 21: The Kasargod police have made swift progress in apprehending two individuals in connection with the abduction of a young man, with ties to the gold business, within a matter of hours.
Reportedly, Ahmed Jabir (36), a resident of Meepuguri Gulf Quarters, Kudlu, was forcibly taken into a car on Saturday night by a gang involved in the gold trade. During the incident, Jabir's friend, who was accompanying him, was assaulted by the kidnappers and left at the scene. Concerned for her missing son, Ahmed Jabir's mother promptly lodged a complaint at the Kasargod police station.
In a twist of events, the abductors reportedly left Ahmed Jabir near the new city bus stand around 4 am, before making their escape. Responding promptly, the police initiated a search operation to apprehend the culprits involved in the abduction. Remarkably, within a few hours, they succeeded in arresting the two suspects identified as Azharuddin (26) and Khader (25), both residents of Anangur. The operation was led by Inspector P Ajithkumar.
Ahmed Jabir, a former Gulf employee, had recently returned to town, reportedly bearing gold. The police revealed that he was targeted under the pretext of his involvement in the gold trade, leading to his kidnapping.
