Mangaluru, Aug 21: MLA of Mangaluru south legislative constituency Vedavyas Kamath said that cancellation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Karnataka is detrimental to the future of children as well as to the federal status of India.
Kamath further said, “The union government formed the NEP with the aim to bring reforms in the educational system of the country. After gathering expert opinion, the policy was formed. The state government’s decision of cancellation of the NEP will have adverse effect on the education system.
“Education should be the symbol of progress. It should not be used for political game. It is clear that the stand taken by the Karnataka government is against the reform. It is not right to play with the future of children for the reason of politics.
“The NEP was formed in order to change the British time education system that is prevailing in our country. However, the state of mind of the Congress is still with the British. They want the children of India to get educated in the same system. Cancellation of the NEP is like cheating our children. Hence, the NEP should not be cancelled at any cost,” he said.
