Chennai, Aug 6: As soon as the Indian team for forthcoming ODI series against England was announced, the debate began on the omission of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, two key players of the team.
Krishnamachari Srikkant, the chairman of selection committee has said that, both the Singhs were injured and hence they were not featured on the team. "Yuvraj Singh needs about couple of weeks to recover; he cannot directly comeback to the field as he needs more time to apply himself", he informed.
But what about Bhajji ?
According to the reliable reports, he needs just ten more days to recover from his stomach upset, so how can he be kept out on the grounds of injury?.
It is a clear indication that, Bhajji has been dropped from the team due to poor performance in the England series. He was a failure in both the tests in England and failed to trouble the English batsmen.
Yuvraj’s omission due to injury ground can be trusted, because he did well in the second test, after coming back from IPL break. He scored 50 plus n the first innings. Moreover, his performance in World Cup itself is the treasure for him to retain his place in Indian ODI team.
But Dravid's inclusion has mixed opinion among the cricket experts. While a section of cricket pundits have welcomed the decision, defending his ability to bat in England pitches especially on short-pitch balls. But, others have criticized his inclusion, as the place should have been given to some of the young player since Dravid is already in his Closure of cricketing career. "Though he can play well in England, and short-pitch balls, he was not a great success when he was called two years back in South Africa for Champions trophy. He was called on the same ground in South Africa in 2009.
