Udupi, Aug 16: The 77th Independence Day of India was celebrated by St Cecily’s English higher primary School on August 15 with pomp and patriotic galore. The patriotic zeal of students was evident all over the school hall which was ordained with the tricolour flags and balloons.
To commemorate the Day, students of class 7A presented a marvellous entertainment program. They highlighted the significance of August 15 with a thought provoking skit, a motivating speech, scintillating dance and a role play on the struggle of the freedom fighters to liberate India from the shackles of British slavery. The programme not only enthralled the student audience but also fortified their possessive love for Mother India.
Nancy, the guest of honour, addressed the students and urged them to be good and proud citizens of India and motivated them to aim high in life and do their best. She advised them to utilize their time in a fruitful manner and respect the diversity of the land and keep up unity and brotherhood forever.
On this occasion, Tanushree Pithrody, a Guinness World Record Holder was honoured for her outstanding performances in yoga by Sr Lathika AC, the principal along with Sr Lavi Shanthi AC, the vice principal. Cecilia introduced Tanushree to the gathering.
Abinav Hemant Joishy and Tanvisha H Poojary anchored the programme. Gagan Amin proposed the vote of thanks.
