Inter class quiz competition held at Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce & Managament

Mangaluru, Aug 10: As a part of India's 76th Independence Day celebration, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Mangament in Kulur had organised an interclass quiz competition.

A total of 63 teams took part in the preliminary round, and the top four teams advanced to the final round. On Sunday, August 10, the final round, which included five of them, was conducted. Nirikshitha and Muhammad Mustafa from the first year of the B Com. ACCA won the first prize, while Jeevika Suresh and Keerthna Suresh from the third year of the B Sc in Forensic Science took home the runners-up trophy.

Dr Arun Bhagwath, principal of YIASCM, emphasised the value of the humanities in NEP and the need to build humanistic traits like empathy and a positive outlook rather than focusing just on earning degrees. Vice principal of the college, Dr Jeevan Raj emphasised the need of holding activities like this to foster critical thinking among students and the significance of comprehending and analysing history.

Dr Sakeena Nasser, HoD, welcomed everyone and emphasised the value of humanities in a world increasingly driven by AI and algorithms. She also emphasised the value of understanding the rich Indian heritage. Dr Deepa Kotari, associate professor from the Department of Humanities conducted the the quiz competition.
