Mangaluru, Aug 6: The annual general body meeting of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School was held on August 5 at St Aloysius Higher Primary school auditorium.
Dr Caroline P DSouza – psychatrist, Fr Vishwas Joy Misquith S J - secretary and treasurer of MJES presided over the function along with the school dignitaries. The dignitaries lit the lamp to symbolise spread of positivity. The PTA team and the students melodiously praised god through a prayer song. A fragrance of welcome was spread by the students as they performed the welcome dance.
Fr John DSouza S J, the correspondent welcomed the gathering and expressed his gladness and also expressed his gratitude to the parents for having attended the programme in such large number.
The resource person of the programme, Dr Caroline P DSouza was introduced to the gathering by Jositta Noronha after which Dr Carorline addressed the gathering. She specified with examples how parents could be role models. It is not how many hours we spend with our children but the quality time we spend with them has to pondered on. She requested the parents to enjoy the quality time with their kids, notice small improvements in them and appreciate them, give them responsibilities, allow them to face failures and importantly have constant communication which means giving ears to them. She also stressed on showing affection to the little once where they need to feel that affection.
The members of the Benjamin Memorial Sports Foundation, Santosh Gerald DSouza, Ram Mohan Pai M and Anil Kumar alumni of the institution spoke on the occasion giving a gist of what this foundation is all about. Santhosh himself being a physical director further explained how and why this foundation has been formed. He informed that hockey coaching is re-introduced in the institution and requested the parents to enrol their children.
The report for the previous year 2022-23 was presented by Shobha Pinto the secretary of the PTA.
Fr Vishwas Joy Misquith S J, spoke next and expressed his happiness in participating in this programme and wished all the parents well. He stressed on development of holistic education. He also emphasised on how Aloysian institutions are preparing students to be ‘Men and Women for and with others’.
The newly chosen vice president of Parent Teacher Association Victor Serrao also spoke on the occasion. Mangala Rai the outgoing vice president proposed the vote of thanks.
Irene Pais and Tanya DSilva neatly compered the programme. The AGM of Parent Teacher Association concluded with the national anthem.
