New Delhi, Aug 2: In a sharp denunciation of former BJP Home Minister Araga Jnanendra for his abusive and disparaging remarks against Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said, "Let us send him to NIMHANS for treatment and hope he will become well soon."
Responding to Jnanendra’s abusive remarks against Kharge’s skin colour and receding hairline regarding Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre’s statement on the implementation of the Kasturi Rangan committee report on the Western Ghats, Shivakumar said the BJP leader is a "fit case for treatment in the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, as no sane person will make such disparaging remarks against a senior leader, who is older than his own grandfather."
Shivakumar is in Delhi to participate in the consultations convened by Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders with some ministers and legislators.
The consultation meeting was originally scheduled to be held in Bengaluru but had to be postponed following the demise of Senior Congress leader Oomen Chandy of Kerala.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also the KPCC President, said that Rahul Gandhi and Central party leaders are holding separate meetings with the ministers and discussing the implementation of the 5 guarantees.
He added that he will be meeting Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the construction of the tunnel road system and flyovers as part of the plans to decongest traffic in the city.
