Udupi, July 28: “The college video incident captured on mobile phone in a restroom here has drawn the attention of the country,” said union minister Shobha Karandlaje.
“There are discussions about the video after Hijab. Protection of students is important for us. Those who have spread private matter outside and misused it should be properly punished. The female students have reported the matter to elected representatives, DC and SP. The students were coming to the college campus during lunch break. All the CCTV footage and mobile phones should be sent to FSL. There is no question of protecting anybody here. Al Qaeda has spoken about Udupi and Hijab. The investigations about this incident should be conducted as soon as possible and the accused should be punished," she said.
"Neither the government nor the party is important. This is the question of the future of students. Bring to my notice if anybody does anything at hostel, college and residential school. I request you as your elder sister. I will keep those who provide information confidential and protect you. We need to be cautious to prevent love jihad and conversions. We will bring the matter to the notice of the union home minister and provide justice," she added.
"There is no politics in this matter. There are no elections happening soon for any politicking. It is a question of the honour and life of our girl students," Shobha Karandlaje said..
She said,"Technical investigations should be conducted instead of questioning the students. Some are speaking about contribution if we open and close our mouths. I do not react to any of their statements. The truth of the incident should come out. The students of my constituency should be protected,” she added.
