Udupi, Jul 28: The BJP party on Friday July 28 staged a massive protest over the incident over three Muslim girls who allegedly filmed a Hindu girl student in a college restroom.
A rally was held from the Udupi district BJP office Kadiyali to Udupi police superintendent office at Bannaje.
As a security measure, huge number of police have been deployed in the city.
Speaking to reporters, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “I suspect PFI links in the case. After the ban on PFI, we doubt that a PFI women's wing has become active. These students might be a part of this operation. I do not trust the investigation carried out by the state government. They should hand over the case to the central government and a detailed investigation or joint investigation with the state government should be conducted.
“Our state chief minister and home minister are acting like mute and deaf and also like they support the Jihadis. Home minister Parameshwar said that the incident was a childish act. Today, they have kept a camera in the washroom, but tomorrow they can plant anything. The administration needs to undertake proper investigation and the culprit needs to be brought before the judiciary. We have to be alert about these ‘Hijabdaris’. We need to work more to bring such incidents to light," he said.
Byndoor MLA Gururaj Ganthehole said, “I will give a free advice to the Congress. Political protests and protest for Hindu religion are different. Only organizations can fight for justice for all the Hindus who are in other parties. Give a free hand to Udupi police. The SP here is young and energetic. He must be allowed to tackle this situation. When NCW member Khushbu Sundar visited Udupi initially, misleading information was given to her. She was told that the incident was a pre-planned prank and there was no hidden camera.”
Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kundapur MLA Kiran Kodgi, former MLA K Raghupati Bhat, district BJP president Suresh Nayak Kuilady, BJP leaders Uday Kumar Shetty, Mattar Ratnakar Hedge, and other BJP leaders of the district took part in the protest.
