Mangaluru, Jul 26: In a significant breakthrough, the CCB police have apprehended yet another accused linked to the notorious drug peddling gang responsible for the rampant sale of Methylene Dioxy Mathamphetamine (MDMA) across the city.
The arrest took place after an intensive operation conducted by the police on July 20, during which three accused s were caught red-handed while selling MDMA in Pilikoor 2, Talapady grama, within the Ullal police station limits. The police seized a substantial quantity of 180 grams of MDMA, two cars, a pistol, a dragon knife, and a considerable sum of cash from the accused.
The latest arrest targeted Abdul Uves alias Uves, who hails from V M T Road, Thodar grama, Badaga, Mijar, Moodbidri, and was found residing at Flat No. 201, Vishwas Garden, Vas Lane, Falnir, Mangaluru.
Upon apprehending Abdul Uves, the police confiscated eight grams of MDMA worth Rs 40,000, along with a mobile phone, Rs 1,020 in cash, and a digital weighing scale, with a total estimated value of Rs 81,520. He has already been presented in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
The investigation further revealed Abdul Uves' involvement in various criminal activities, including cases of assault and kidnapping at Moodbidri police station, drug selling and consumption at Mangaluru north police station, offenses under the IT Act at Udupi sen police station, and a Ganja sale case at Mysuru district Sen police station. Notably, he had been evading court appearances in three of these cases, leading to three warrants being issued for his arrest.
The CCB police, led by Inspector Sham Sunder H M, and assisted by PSI Rajendra B, Sudeep M V, Sharanappa Bhandary, Narendra, and the diligent CCB staff, successfully carried out the arrest, further curbing the drug menace in the region.
