Kasargod, July 19: Manjeshwar police have arrested two men involved in various criminal activities and seized their revolver.
They were Miyapadavu resident Abdul Rahim (36) and Bandyod Adka resident Abdul Latif (32). Abdul Latif was arrested from a lodge at Kozhikode while Abdul Rahim was arrested on the basis of information provided by Latif.
A revolver with live bullets were confiscated by the police from him. Police said that more than 15 cases and five warrants are in progress against Rahim at the police stations of Sullia, Puttur, Vitla and Manjeshwar. Abdul Rahim who was in prison under the Kafa Act was released a year ago.
He was accused of robbing a lorry transporting red stones at Miyapadavu, Baliyoor eight months ago. Rahim and his accomplices had shot at police and threw beer bottles when the police team in the leadership of the then DySP P P Sadanandan was arresting them. They fled to Karnataka and were absconding. They had assaulted Vitla police while fleeing.
Abdul Latif is an accused in nine cases at Manjeshwar police station limits. He is accused of abduction and had attempted to murder painter Althaf two years ago at Uppala Sonkal. He is also accused of involvement in a case of barging into Mujib Rehman house at Bandyod Adka one and a half months ago where he created a ruckus. He was absconding.
