Mangaluru, Jul 18: Aashna Rai, an 18-year-old first-year BA student at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), has been chosen to represent India as a youth ambassador at the YEP 2023-24 in Vietnam. Aashna is part of a delegation consisting of 13 cadets from various parts of the country.
Aashna Rai, an NCC Airwing Cadet from the 6 Karnataka Air Squadron, hails from Mangaluru. She spent 12 years studying abroad in Bahrain and Qatar before returning to India in the sixth grade. During her time at Canara High School CBSE, she served as the vice sports house captain and head girl in the 10th Grade. Aashna was recognized as the Best Outgoing Student during her tenure there.
As a Junior Wing Cadet, she completed her 'A' Certificate from the 18 Kar Bn NCC. For her PUC studies, she joined St Aloysius PU College, where she was elected as the class representative for two consecutive years. Progressing to become a Senior Wing Cadet at the 6 Kar Air Sqn, Aashna's dedication led to her selection as the Best Cadet of Karnataka and Goa Directorate for the Republic Day Camp. She was also honored with the All India Best Cadet Award by the Honorable Prime Minister of India during the Annual PM Rally in New Delhi in 2023.
Throughout her journey, Aashna received guidance from Wg Cdr Shishu Paul, the Commanding Officer of 6 Kar Air Sqn, as well as from Wg Cdr Chandan Garg, the previous CO of 6 Kar Air Sqn, PI staff members, associate NCC officer Fg Offr Alwyn Stephen Misquith, and the team of NCC Air Wing Ex cadets from St Aloysius College (Autonomous).
