Puttur, Jul 12: Jaggu alias Jagan, who was murdered by the owner of the shop where he worked in Mulihitlu of Mangaluru, was at Uppinangady during lockdown of 2020 and was loved by all.
A day before the announcement of the Covid lockdown, Jaggu was seen begging for food at the weekly market place at 34th Nekkiladi near Uppinangady. Vegetable vendor Basheer, who had gone to the market, felt pity on Jaggu and gave him food and asked him to load vegetables into the vehicle. Seeing his good work, Basheer brought him to his vegetable shop.
Later, when lockdown was announced and all shops were closed, Jaggu was working when the shops opened for few hours and used to eat food if someone provided. He did not do anything for money.
Jaggu was looking like a person belonging to Adivasi tribe. He did not have any knowledge of money also. He wanted to eat stomach full and wear good dress. He used to speak very less. He used to speak sluggishly and said that he is from Sundargarh of Assam, if anyone asked him. When it is traced now, it seems Sudargarh is in Odisha.
One fine day, Jaggu went with Basheer to Mangaluru to bring vegetables. After the vegetables were loaded onto the vehicle, he disappeared. It is suspected that from that day onwards he was with Hussain, owner of the shop at Mulihitlu, who is alleged to have killed and burnt him.
