Panaji, Jul 27: A day after the political drama over resignations of two Congress ministers in Goa ended, party’s campaign chief in the state Mauvin Godinho has said that 'such incidents malign party’s image.'
"Such incidents certainly affect party’s image in the state," Godinho said talking to reporters in the port town of Vasco.
Two ministers - Churchill Alemao and his elder brother, Joaquim - had resigned from the state cabinet on Saturday. On Monday, they withdrew the resignation after meeting the High Command in New Delhi.
Godinho said that such incidents will dent the party image considering that state is likely to go for early polls, somewhere in February, next year.
He said that 'it is for the Chief Minister, who is Congress legislative party chief, to contain such damage.’
Two ministers were upset after Churchill’s daughter, Valanka was disqualified from the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee election.
Back from Delhi, Churchill said that high command has assured proper weightage to his daughter Valanka and Joaquim’s son, Yuri, in the forthcoming assembly polls.
Goa Desk incharge Jagmit Singh Brar, who is quoted by local media that Churchill was not given any assurance, was not available for comments despite frequent calls and text messages.
