Bangalore, Jul 26: Congressmen, who protested the barefoot step-climb to the Chamundi Hills for the survival of the BJP Government headed by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, have ''lost their mental balance," claimed Energy and Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Shobha Karandlaje.
The minister had climbed the steps of the famous Chamundi Hills in Mysore on Sunday for the safety of the Yeddyurappa.
''I prayed to goddess Chamundeshwari for the safety of the Government, which has done wonderful work for the development of the State," she said.
Karandlaje said the protests by the women activists of Congress led by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Women’s Wing President Manjula Naidu in cleaning the steps of the Chamundi Hill on Tuesday were ''ridiculous."
She said the Congress leaders have no right to curtail her right to practice religion. ''The Congress leaders have lost balance of mind and don’t know for what purpose they have to stage protest,"
The protesters alleged that Ms Karandlaje had destroyed the sanctity of the place by climbing the steps as part of vow for the survival of the Yeddyurappa government which was mired in corruption, nepotism and scams.
Congress workers washed several steps with water and claimed that they did so for restoring the sanctity and prayed the Goddess Chamundeshwari for saving the people from the corrupt BJP Government.
