Mumbai, Jul 3: St Peter's Association (Barkur) Mumbai celebrated their patron saint St Peter's feast and their 33rd annual day at St Vincent De Palloti Church, Marol on July 2. Thanksgiving Mass to St Peter was celebrated by Goa Agaciam Shubham Jinn Meditation Ashram superior, Fr Dr Ivon DAlmeida.
The 33rd AGM held before the celebration was presided over by president Bonifas Sequeira. Secretary Arthur Mendonca read last year's report. Treasurer Vincent Furtado presented annual accounts.
Annual day celebrations at St Vincent De Palloti Church hall were inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Fr lvon Almeida, Bonifas Sequeira, Eric Carvalho, Ivon Rebello, Richard Carvalho, Felix Barnes, Ida Roche, Vincent Furtado and Arthur Mendonca.
Educational Prizes were presented to seven students for securing highest marks in SSC, HSC, graduation and post-graduation. Fr Dr Ivon D'Almeida hailing from Barkur was felicitated on 25 years of priesthood jubilee with shawl, garland and fruit bucket by president Bonifas Sequeira, vice president Wilfred Sequeira Barnes and Vincent Furtado.
Michael Sequeira, committee members, sports persons and marathon runners were felicitated for winning many medals in various events conducted by Indian Navy and Maharashtra state government. Senior citizens were felicitated by Johnson Martis and Ivan Suares. Senior most SPA member, ex-president, Felix Barnes was honored by Thimothy D’ Souza and Michael Almeida. Richard Carvalho, the former president was honoured by former president Ivan Rebello and John Gonsalves and Anthony Gonsalves by Arthur Mendonca and Anthony Dias.
Bonifas Sequeira welcomed the gathering. Arthur Mendonca presented the Annual Report. Eric Carvalho, vice president Kiran Carvalho and Lizzie Fernandes briefly introduced the felicitator. Fr Ivon Almeida spoke about association activities and praised their good work carried both in Barkur and Mumbai.
Ivon Rebello explained the association plans seeking help for future projects of uniform and books and a teacher’s salary for Maryknoll school at Barkur, help for poor students, educational awards to children, help for various church projects etc.
The programme was compered by Joylon Fernandes. Games were conducted by Kiran Carvalho. Wilfred Sequeira proposed vote of thanks.
