Mangaluru, Jul 3: Youth of city, who went as tourist to a falls near Tirupati, died as he could not reach the surface after diving into the falls on Friday.
The deceased is identified as Sumant Amin (23), a resident of Kulai Honnakatte.
Sumant was studying MSc in the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi University at Chennai. He said with his father Suresh Amin that he is going to Tirupati.
Sumant was having bath in the falls at Talakona, which is at a distance of around 60 km from Tirupati, along with his classmate. He jumped from the rock to a depth of 10 feet. His feet got entangled into the cave through which the water passes. Though his classmate immediately lifted Sumant up, he could not be saved.
The matter was informed to the family members on Friday itself. Mortal remains of Sumant were brough to his residence at Kulai on Sunday.
Sumant was a intelligent student and of helping nature. Documentary, photography and tourism were his hobbies. He went to Chennai two years ago to study MSc at Rajiv Gandhi University.
Sumant is survived by his father Suresh Amin, who works as manager at Payyanur branch of Canara Bank and mother Umakshi, who is serving as head teacher at Kenjaru government school.
