Puttur, Jul 2: A two-year-old buck (male deer) was tragically killed by a street dog at Saralikatte Hosamugeru, within the zonal forest limits of Uppinangady, on Saturday.
The buck had ventured near the forest border while grazing when it was viciously attacked by the street dog. Local residents immediately alerted forest officials about the incident, urging them to transport the severely injured deer to a veterinary hospital. Although the forest officials promptly rushed the deer to the veterinary clinic, it tragically succumbed to its injuries.
The deer was laid to rest at Mannagundi, where a forest department depot is located. Deputy forest conservator Sandeep, Carol Monteiro, forest guard Pratap, and driver Kishore participated in the operation.
